Digital Exsiccate of Fungi

During a cooperation between the Universities of Tübingen, Germany and Göteborg, Sweden the need for a real powerfull tool for identification, documentation and communication in mycology became obvious.
The now a days wide spread use of computers and internet accessibility made the World Wide Web a optimal medium to distribute data, text and images. The intention of the Digital Exsiccate of Fungi is to:

How to use the Digital Exsiccate of Fungi?

All information is stored in a logical structure on the server. HTML documents of species are stored in the corresponding genus folder.

For each species there are two kinds of documents:

  1. Main document containing description of the species with links to illustrations. Information is given about nomenclature, macro- and micromorphology, biogeography, similar species, typical specimens in herbaria, references.
  1. additional document with illustration, e.g. hymenium
  2. additional document with illustration, e.g. typical spores
  3. additional document with etc., etc.
